MESSAGE FROM JOHN MILLOY'S OFFICE
to CYCLE ONTARIO
.... On another matter, I am writing to let you know that John has drafted a motion to the legislature and I wanted to run it by you before it's finalized. Please feel free to give it a read and provide any feedback or comments. A motion is not a piece of legislation; it's introduced to seek a consensus from the Members of the House in order to press the government for more action on an issue.
To that end, John is introducing a motion on helmet safety. You will note that it does request that the government make bike helmets
mandatory for everyone regardless of age.
An important element too, that I think touches on some of the issues you and Kris raised during the meeting, is the final point --that any safety campaign also address the greater safety issues of cyclists on roadways.
Please give the motion a read and feel free to comment. If there is anything you wanted to bring to John's attention, however, please let me know before Monday.
Take care,
Drew (an assissant to Milloy)
